Altuzarra for Target Collection

Target is debuting yet another collaborative collection with a poplar fashion designer. On September 14, the brand Altuzarra will partner with Target to launch a limited ready to wear collection.

Joseph Altuzarra the creative designer for Altuzarra stated the collection was inspired but the "global traveling narrative". He wanted to create a line that would make women feel confident and beautiful stating "one of the guiding principles of Altuzarra is that fashion can be transformative, changing not just the way you look, but also the way you feel. By partnering with Target, we hope to bring that same experience to a much broader range go women".

Now I cannot mention this new collection without speaking about the multiple plus size fashion bloggers but particularly plus-size fashion blogger Garner Style who has promised to boycott Target due to the mysterious disappearance of it's plus-size section. Target responded to the disappearance stating "Big Changes are Coming". Garner has promised to boycott Target completely and will stop the boycotting when Target decides to consider plus size women again.

So you may ask what is my opinion on this matter. Well I'm quite torn, and a few questions will need to be answered in order for me to make a complete decision. For one, is it the responsibility of the designer or the retailer to decided if "plus sizes" will be offered? Upon research I notice that Altuzarra has never made plus size pieces (largest size available a XL). I do agree that our society as a whole should recognize that women come in all different shapes and sizes. The obsession that all women should aspire to be the image of a model is unhealthy for our society and teaches a lesson of self-hate. In conclusion, because I love fashion I will still share the pieces I adore. The Altuzarra collection for Target will debut 50 pieces. However, with this not being a plus size collection as with previous collaborative collections at Target I have seen plus-size bloggers still be able to incorporate some pieces into their wardrobe.
